Kampala Mayor Hopeful cum singer and comedian Daniel Kyeyune Kazibwe, alias Ragga Dee seems to have succumbed to pressure to cut off his prized dreadlocks as he continues to excite Kampala people ahead of the forth coming elections.
The singer who is fresh and reloaded after rubbing shoulders on Saturday with his party’s presidential flag bearer Yoweri Museveni as they campaigned in Rubaga for their two respective offices on the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) ticket.
Ragga Dee has Time and again rallied Kampala voters and fellow artistes to support his bid for the mayor ship, saying that he wants to transform the city to a level of other developed cities that he has visited while on tour overseas, with many looking at him as the most suitable candidate to take over the mantle thanks to his streetwise Kampala shrewdness and rapport with the common man.
The singer is under pressure to cut off his 20 year old dreadlocks. For years the veteran singing star has always maintained a dreadlocked look which has become a trademark of sorts.
In a shocking turn of events his interest of serving Kampalans, Ragga Dee, who has an MBA, has revealed that the time to cut off the dreads to look a more serious person and leader is coming though he has not yet specified exactly when he will chop them off.
Ragga Dee, who doubles as a businessman, has also promised to promote Ugandan music. Recognised as one of the pioneers of contemporary Ugandan music, Ragga Dee was born in 1973 to George William Kyeyune.
The singer has in the past showed interest in leadership roles as early as during sojourn at St. Henry’s Kitovu High School in Masaka and as the honcho of the now defunct singing group Da’Hommies.
