It is Day 32 of the presidential campaigns.

– FDC flag bearer Kizza Besigye has phoned the senior nursing officer at Abim Hospital who finds herself in trouble alongside two others for showing him around the health facility last week. According to a post on his Facebook page, Besigye called “the local hero of Abim Hospital” yesterday “to tell her that we in this together”. Besigye is today taking a break and will resume tomorrow with rallies scheduled in Mityana.

– President Yoweri Museveni who returned from Kigali, Rwanda last evening is back on the trail today. He is already in Mbale and will later proceed to Sironko.

– Go Forward candidate Amama Mbabazi has told journalists and locals gathered outside Kabale Hospital that he will attempt to access the facility later. He was earlier today denied access to the health facility with police claiming he had no permission. Mbabazi vowed to return before he was driven off. Addressing a crowd at a stop (Kokyezo), Mbabazi promised to improve on the state of schools and hospitals in the area. He will later address a main rally in Kisoro.

– PDP’s Abed Bwanika says he will scrap the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) position once elected president. His promise comes days after President Museveni seemingly agreed with Kizza Besigye that RDCs are ‘useless’. The president later told journalists he was being sarcastic. Bwanika says a lot of money is injected into maintaining the position in every district yet the RDCs’ delivery is meager. He is today in Pallisa and Budaka.
