The complete nomination list for the 4th Annual HiPipo Music Awards was released yesterday by HiPipo (U) Limited.

The nominations were a comprehensive reflection of the Ugandan Music Industry 2015 performance, coming from over 30,000 nomination forms filled up by different music stakeholders including fans, media, and artistes. #HMA2016 will be held on Saturday 30th January, 2016 at Kampala Serena Hotel.

Under the theme, The Fans Decide, voting in 26 categories will kick off on 7th December and will go on until 30th January 2016. The voting will be done through SMS and Online platforms with a 70:30 contribution respectively.  Two categories will be purely determined by a panel of Judges and thus will not require any public voting. These are: Life Time Achievement Award and Video Trailblazer Award.

This year’s HiPipo Music Awards are bigger and better. Among other things, a lucky fan who will take part in the voting will win a Black Convertible Peugeot 207 through a draw to be conducted on the event day.  The winners of Best Regional Song and Best Breakthrough Artiste will get a mega recording deal from a popular studio.

While releasing the nominations, HiPipo CEO, Innocent Kawooya, said; “For the whole year, we have been following the music industry closely. In September, we kicked off the nomination process. Over 30,000 nomination forms were filled and returned. I am pleased to inform you that today, we have the complete list of nominees.”

He added: “#HMA2016 nomination list has those Artistes and Songs that got the highest number of nomination mentions from the forms filled by key stakeholders such as fans, musicians and media. Those on the list are the most deserving Artistes. As we have always said, we are not in this to appease anyone. This platform was established to appreciate Ugandan and East and African talent. Since its launch nine years ago, HiPipo has been and still committed to rewarding the very best.  I congratulate all the nominees.”

The voting in #HMA2016 will kick off on Monday 7th December and will run until January 30th 2015. To this, Innocent said; “We are finalizing our voting systems. Both the SMS and Online Voting platforms will be easy to use and are technologically secure. Each and every vote counts.”
