There was a massive jubilation on Sunday at Nabugabo Sand Beach which comprised of all elected DP politicians of Masaka district together with their supporters.
Thousands of Masaka residents came from different areas of the district to converge at the beach as they rejoiced having won 90% of the seats in the district.
The woman MP elect of Masaka district Maria Babirye Kabanda urged the residents to be calm and not to attack anyone who was on their opposite side.
“It is now time to forgive and forget all those people that did not support us into power in the recent elections, we shall not be their enemies and we argue them to collaborate with us”, stressed Kabanda.
Kabanda said that through working together irrespective of who supported DP into power, Masaka will regain the prestige it had some time back.
The Member of Parliament Masaka Municipality Mathias Mpuuga who was re-elected also assured other parts of Uganda that after all this massive Democratic Party win, it’s a sign that Masaka has regained its power.
He further said that any state to be independent must have a starting point and that to save Uganda from its poor state, the journey has begun from Masaka district.
Mpuuga continued to remind the ecstatic Democratic Party supporters that NRM should totally be eradicated from Masaka since signs have already shown up. “In my municipality, NRM totally lost to an extent that they did not even get a parish councillor” said Mpuuga.
“We therefore want to throw NRM out of our district starting from the grassroots of the LC.I posts,” explained the MP.
He urged the Democratic Party supporters not to give a chance to any NRM candidate so that other districts use Masaka as an example as they follow their actions. He also added that Masaka will always initiate as other districts follow.
Other elected MPs like Florence Namayanja of Bukoto East constituency and Jude Mbabaali who was elected LCV chairperson among others were in place to rejoice and have fun with their supporters.
It is noted that the Democratic Party managed to capture 90% of the elected posts of the recent elections and it’s only a few posts that were taken by the independents and FDC.
One other competitive post was that of Bukoto Central constituency which was won by H.E. the Vice P-resident Edward Kiwanuka of the NRM.
